The Knauf Group
Innovative KNAUF Technology
Established in 1932, Knauf is a family-owned multi-national manufacturer of buildings materials and construction systems. With more than 30 years of experience in the insulation industry, Knauf Insulation represents one of the fastest growing and most respected names in insulation worldwide.
Originally a producer of conventional gypsum materials, now delivering systems and complete solutions for buildings with green roof technology worldwide.
More than 25,000 employees worldwide with more than 220 factories in more than 70 countries.
KNAUF is committed to meeting the increasing demand for energy efficiency in new and existing homes, non-residential buildings and industrial applications.
Green roofs provide added value to buildings, lessen the energy demand and CO2 emissions in many ways. A green roof can help to improve a building’s insulation, reduce the cost of cooling and heating bills whilst providing a solution for reducing ambient air temperature in urban areas and stormwater management costs.
Case Study: Barangaroo Headland Reserve, Sydney
The Barangaroo Headland Park Project has a very large green roof space with varying levels of static loads (soil, grass, trees) and dynamic loads (people). The performance requirements were for an insulation product that would be waterproof, have high compressive strength and also high thermal performance.
