International Low Impact Design - LID (Water Sensitive Urban Design) Conference

When:
Mon, 27/06/2016 to Wed, 29/06/2016
Where:
Beijing, China

The International LID conferences provide an international forum to present the latest developments, technologies and case studies related to LID, green infrastructure (GI) and WSUD technology. Inaugurated in 2004 with the most recent one held in Houston in early 2015, the LID conferences have been well-attended (800-1,000 attendees). The conference brings professionals from all sectors, i.e., academics, government officials, consultant company personnel, environmental and drainage engineers, landscape architects, and urban planners together. Recognising that China adopted in 2013 a “Sponge City” approach, i.e., utilizing the natural storage, infiltration and purification processes in the urban built environment, the 2016 conference is being held outside the USA for the first time, located in the International Conference Centre at Beijing Olympic Park. The joint convenors are Chinese Society of Civil Engineers – Water Industry Society; American Society of Civil Engineers – Environmental and Water Resources Institute; Chinese Academy of Engineering – Division of Civil, Hydraulic and Architecture Engineering; and Tsinghua, Peking and Beijing Civil Engineering and Architecture Universities. A follow-up Workshop on LID practices is been planned by the Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen (UPDIS) and is tentatively scheduled for July 4-5, 2016. Conference Abstracts (<500 words) are invited, preferably by 31 October 2015, acceptance advised by 30-11-2015 and full papers due on 15 April 2016.
