GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE AUSTRALIA (GIA), formerly known as Green Roofs Australia (GRA), welcomes you to our association website. GIA is a Not For Profit incorporated association and a registered Australian body. We exist due to the financial support of our niche industry professionals, individuals and product manufacturers. We also exist due to the pro bono work volunteered by our executive board and our paying members.

GIA is the peak body for our niche industry, which is a segment of the Design & Construction Industry. Our observation since formation in 2007 is that the term 'GREEN' has become so widely used that the definition has become diluted. When we refer to GREEN we refer to Vegetated Systems. When we refer to our niche industry we refer to all who participate in the design, supply, training and research of green roofs, green walls, bio-swales, urban wetlands, parks and urban forests and other green systems in, on and around the built environment. We refer to Greening as the practice of Vegetating , of Planting wherever and on whatever is possible within the urban environment. The 21stCentury has provided this new research & technology which allows this possibility to be realised, providing us with profound environmental, social and economical benefits.

GIA has reached over 600,000 through GIA channels including our website, our National Conferences, advocacy, media interviews, representation at International conferences & webinars and as the peak body in Australia, will continue to reach more.
