GRA supports the initiative announced by Minister Greg Hunt to implement the Action Plan 2015-16 as the first instalment of a five-year Australian Government response to the risk of species extinction - Flora and Fauna. GRA advocates and promotes new habitat zones on building roof top areas which total 65% of the urban areas in Australian Capital Cities. Buildings with Green Roofs provide a feral free zone for endangered bird species, insects, bees, butterflies. Green Roofs also provide areas for the cultivation of endangered Flora species which can be researched and monitored. The current available areas are significant when totalled to include all Australian urban areas. The Action Plan 2015-16 is the first instalment of a five-year Australian Government response to the risk of species extinction.
